Playhouse Team Building

The Playhouse program allows Habitat’s corporate partners to sponsor their own uniquely creative build experience while raising money to support Habitat for Humanity of Sonoma County’s mission to bring people together to build homes, communities and hope.

How do I setup a corporate team building day for my organization?

If your group is interested in a Playhouse Team Building event, you can submit our interest form!

Our staff will work with you to plan an engaging, exciting team building experience based upon your needs. Habitat will provide all the necessary materials and instructions for the Playhouse team build.

How will building a Playhouse help to build my team?

Working together to build and decorate a Playhouse is fun, creative, and rewarding. Each Playhouse has a theme, such as “Jungle Safari” or “Under the Sea,” and your team members will collaborate to bring that to life. Not only do the volunteers get a chance to use their imagination and work together in a new context, but they’ll have the fulfilling, inspiring opportunity to see something beautiful and meaningful come together out of a few pieces of wood, knowing that it will bring light into the life of a deserving child in the community.

Where do the Playhouses go after being built?

We work with other community leaders to find children in Sonoma County who would benefit from this special gesture. The Playhouses may go to children of veterans or active-duty military, Habitat homeowners, non-profits working with children, or wildfire survivors.

If your organization wants to select the Playhouse recipients, we will work with you to ensure this happens.


Playhouse Team

What does a Playhouse Team Build day look like?

Volunteers working on the playhouse should wear closed-toe shoes and dress comfortably in clothes that may get some paint on them. Each Playhouse requires about 4 hours to assemble and paint with a team of 7-10 members. Several Playhouses can be built at once to engage larger groups.

The playhouse can be painted and assembled at our Santa Rosa ReStore at 1201 Piner Road, Suite 500, or at the site of your event (a business parking lot is an excellent build spot). The large Playhouse pieces will be pre-cut with the first coat of paint done. First, the teams will assemble the door, windows, and trim to the sides of the Playhouses and construct the roof.

They can then get creative by painting the sides according to the theme. After a bit of drying time, the team will assemble the Playhouse and be able to celebrate their totally Instagram-able work!

The Playhouse Team Build day requires a $2,500 donation per Playhouse. The revenue is vital to the construction of affordable homes for families in the community!
