Construction – Help us build a Habitat Home!
Habitat homes are built with 90% volunteer labor. Construction volunteers work alongside our dedicated construction team, our Crew Leader volunteers, and our partner families to help us build Habitat houses. No previous construction skills are expected. We will provide all the tools, training, and safety equipment needed to work on our construction sites. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age to be on a job site. Construction volunteer opportunities take place from 7:30am-2:00pm Tuesday-Friday and Saturday when available.
IMPORTANT — Before volunteering on a job site, please take our free Volunteering on a Habitat for Humanity Job Site safety class. Once you are on the page, click "Begin Now" and follow the instructions. Thank you!
What to bring to a Job Site
We provide all tools needed to work on our construction site. For your comfort, the following items are highly recommended: • Work Gloves • Water Bottle • Bag Lunch!
IMPORTANT – Please fill out your Volunteer Release Form packet and bring it with you when you come to volunteer with us.
Volunteering at ReStore
ReStore is Habitat for Humanity of Sonoma County’s retail outlet where we sell new and used building supplies and furniture to help support our mission. Volunteer opportunities at ReStore include stocking merchandise, customer service, assembling product, inventory management, product testing and retail display. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age. For additional details about volunteering, visit our Volunteering at Restore page.
There are numerous ways to support Habitat for Humanity of Sonoma County beyond the job site or ReStore. Consider joining one of our committees or volunteering in the office! If you're interested in these unique opportunities, please let us know!
- Translation Services: On-call volunteers who are bilingual are needed to translate documents and to translate during meetings and events.
- Office Volunteers: Help out in our office with data entry, filing, mailings, and other general office duties. Hours are flexible.
- Ambassador Volunteer: Help us spread the word! Volunteers are needed to help with outreach at tabling events and representing Habitat at community events.
Family Selection Committee
The Family Selection Committee (FSC) is a team of volunteers responsible for helping the Family Services staff determine if a family applicant is qualified to become a partner family with Habitat. The FSC meets once a month to review applications of potential partner families. The committee will conduct interviews, credit checks, and home visits. Once the review process is completed, the Family Selection Committee makes a recommendation to the Board of Directors for final approval of a Habitat partner family.
